Levante UD is an amazing club. Even though they have one of the lowest budgets in the Liga BBVA, they are getting good results for the second year in a row. And they could also qualify for the next round of the UEFA Europe League. Obafemi Martins, Sergio Ballesteros and goalkeeper Gustavo Munúa are Levante's most important players.

A Post Match Fracas Takes The Headlines

A Canterano's goal aside, the game, played on a water-logged pitch, had no tactical highlights, no intricate passing, and no great display of skill. Our more delicate fantasista players struggled to even play with a ball that spun and stopped moving in standing water. Others improved markedly after the break when they realized that a passing game was out of the question and a direct, over-head approach was necessary.

Luckily then, from the point of view of the press, there was plenty of drama post-match in the tunnel and dressing rooms to make up for the usual tactical examination of what happened on the pitch.

Real Madrid is Waterproof

A late goal by Academy player Álvaro Morata allowed Real Madrid to walk away with a win in a really tough environment for Jose Mourinho and his men. Levante managed to tie the game up after Cristiano Ronaldo put his team ahead. Later on, Xabi Alonso missed a penalty, but it all ended happily for him and his teammates. Not that much for Ronaldo though, since he left the game at halftime after David Navarro elbowed him in the eye.

Can Cristiano Ronaldo play as a pure striker? Against Levante, Real Madrid will need his Portuguese star to excel at that position, even though he's more comfortable on the left wing. Benzema and Higuaín's injuries will mean José Callejón will get the start after some brilliant 45 minutes against Borussia Dortmund.
