Celebration at Cibeles.
Campeones! Campeones! Real Madrid are officially champions of Spain for the 32nd time in club history. Los blancos clinched the title with a commanding 3-0 victory over Marcelo Bielsa's young and talented Athletic Bilbao.
Although the official celebration with the team has been pushed back to 19:00 CET on Thursday (1pm EST), festivities have already kicked off in Madrid. Cibeles was packed with Madridistas on Wednesday night. The celebrations began immediately after the match and lasted until about 3 am local time.
I was at Cibeles this evening to witness this initial phase of Real Madrid's title-winning celebrations. It would be difficult to accurately describe the passion and joy on display at Cibeles solely in words. Therefore, I thought it would be best to post a few videos and pictures from tonight.
Tomorrow will undoubtedly be a more glamorous and eventful celebration, but tonight's festivities were filled with raw emotion and passion.
