It was a very easy win for the Spanish national team, and that means neither Casillas nor Ramos had a lot of work to do against the Irish strikers. But Xabi Alonso and Álvaro Arbeloa were great. The Spanish defender had a rough game against Italy, as he was expected to contribute more on his team's offense. But he certainly listened to the critics and delivered a very complete game against Trapattoni's Ireland.
Alonso, on his part, was great while distributing his teammates. He also played well defensively and is starting to look like his old Madrid self.
Ireland wasn't that big of a rival, though, and the Spanish National team will still need to improve if they want to compete for the big prize.
