The movement of Real Madrid leading up to the new season has been very strange. A lot of players have been sold , no new players have been bought to strengthen the squad.

When the last season ended, my analysis was Real Madrid couldn't win the champions league due to the lack of a quality RB. Time and again Mourinho had to play Di Maria in place of Kaka(who was linking up pretty well with Ozil and Ronaldo), as Di Maria could cover up for Arbeola more than Kaka(or at least Mourinho thought so). So the solution was to buy a new RB who could cover up for the big matches whereas Arbeola could continue to play the rest. This solution would have been the same as buying Contreao after first season to cover up for Marcelo who was getting killed against Barca.

So going by the analysis , there were two paths to tread bring in Carvajal to aid Arbeola, or bring in another established RB. Carvajal was sold with buy back option, then it seemed Real Madrid will buy Maicon as a temporary measure to take up the RB responsibilities in important matches, by two years Carvajal would be ready to take over the mantle from him. But alas no one has yet been bought. Funnily enough it seems Lass will play RB , I have nothing to comment on this as it is beyond my understanding or reasoning.

Secondly it was thought Nuri Sahin would be given a full pre season to develop into a starter for Real Madrid. But out of nowhere Real Madrid wants to buy Modric at 40 million pounds . I truly believe Modric missed the US tour because he didn't believe(or you can say he was shocked) that he can cost so much and not because of his ongoing transfer saga. I understand he can cover for Ozil to some extent and Xabi alonso to a great extent , but for 40 million pounds he is too costly for what he offers. Plus we have Nuri Sahin whose confidence will be destroyed forever.

Moreover the worst thing about having Barca as their greatest rival , is the desire in Real Madrid to prove they also promote young talent from their youth squad, and just to prove this, some mediocre talent is being promoted. For starters how does Granero merit selection over Kaka and Nuri Sahin time and again ?? I don't understand. Then is the curious case of Callejon, the guy was brought back to the squad last year and although he isn't the best striker in the world , miraculously he went to score a handful of goals.And I hope he continues to do so. But now it seems we are promoting Morata , we already have two front line strikers Higuian and Benzema, then we have Callejon, what place does it leave for Morata ??? Is this a eye wash in the name of promoting youth products ??

Finally with no RB (still hoping for Maicon), with no Modric who wasnt needed in first place, with Kaka going oout and Nuri Sahin going on Loan , I dont know where we are all heading. I just hope all falls in place before August 31st . And for God's sake let Nuro Sahin go on to his next club and play the best football he is capable of playing.....

And it doesn't matters what leads up to the new season let Real Madrid WIN!!!
