MADRID, SPAIN - AUGUST 19: Pepe of Real Madrid leaves the pitch with his head injured during the La Liga match between Real madrid and Valencia at Estadio Santiago Bernabeu on August 19, 2012 in Madrid, Spain. (Photo by Gonzalo Arroyo Moreno/Getty Images)

Portuguese defender Pepe spent the night at the Hospital Universitario La Paz after he collided with Iker Casillas trying to clear the ball on the play that lead to Valencia's first and only goal. He remained on the pitch for the remaining three minutes of the half but then asked for a substitution after he felt dizzy and confused.

Pepe underwent a CT scan to rule out any cerebral damage. Real Madrid's official website indicated that the Portuguese player will go through more thorough medical tests later today to check his status, but so far, he is stable and conscious.

Managing Madrid would like to wish a quick recovery to one of our key players in the team's latest achievements. He will surely miss the next couple of games, but the whole staff is confident that he will join the rest of the squad soon enough.
