According to the Spanish press, Gonzalo Higuaín will be Mourinho's choic to start at the striker position in the first leg of the Supercup against Barcelona. The Argentinian player's preseason was longer, and one could say that he could be in better shape than his striking counterpart Karim Benzema. Furthermore, he scored against Valencia and also had a header that went off the crossbar, indicating that he is in good form.
The Spanish journalists mostly agree on what Mourinho's starting XI will be: Casillas, Arbeloa, Albiol, Ramos, Coentrao, Xabi Alonso, Khedira, Özil, Cristiano Ronaldo, Di María and Higuaín. That would leave Benzema and Kaká as Real Madrid's only players on the bench that can entirely change a game .
Things aren't that clear for FC Barcelona. Some speculate that Cesc could start instead of Iniesta, and Tito Vilanova could even trust new signing Alex Song to prevent Real Madrid from creating dangerous chances. The former Arsenal player has only been practicing with the squad for two days, but Cesc was in a similar situation last year and Pep Guardiola decided to put him on the field just after Real Madrid tied the game at 2-2.
The official lineups are expected to go public one hour before the game kicks off.
