Both ESPN's Rob Train and Managing Madrid's Lucas Navarrete have written excellent columns on why Cristiano Ronaldo deserves to win the Ballon d'Or in January. The Portuguese winger is well on his way to smashing countless club and league records as he continues to make hat-tricks look easy and scores virtually every game. British outlet Sky Sports conducted an internet poll that resulted in 84% of voters backing CR7 for the prestigious award. Madrid's talisman seems to be up against Bayern Munich's treble-winning midfielder Franck Ribéry and Barcelona's Lionel Messi in the race for the golden ball, though Cristiano's goal-scoring prowess this year seems to finally be garnering recognition and praise. Come on, Cristiano!
Speaking of goal-scoring, listen up all you ballers! Real Madrid has launched a new iPhone and Android app that measures the speed of your shot so you can see where you stack up against the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and Xabi Alonso! "Real Madrid Kick" is now available for download, but check out this teaser for the application to see if it peaks your interest. While this writer has humbly accepted that attempting knuckle balls Ronaldo-style will only lead to sore toes, I am sure there are players from the Managing Madrid community who could put up some impressive numbers.
Finally, it's shaping up to be a quiet week in Valdebebas. Real Madrid has lost fifteen first-team players to national team call-ups, while Marcelo and Jese are both recovering from knocks with gym work. This leaves Carlo Ancelotti with the following players available for training: Diego López, Jesús, Nacho, Illaramendi, Isco, and Casemiro. According to MARCA, Jese has minor back pains while Marcelo continues to recover from his traumatic knee arthritis.
