In other news, Real Madrid defender Pepe has commented on Sepp Blatter's comments on Cristiano Ronaldo. The interview focuses on Portugal's qualification campaign but Pepe had the following to say about his club and international teammate.
What did you make of Sepp Blatter’s comments about Cristiano? "We know that, even just for the figures Cristiano has racked up, it’s not normal that he’s only won the Ballon d’Or once after being to the gala seven or eight times. It just shows that a lot of strange things happen in football. It’s not fair what has happened to Cristiano; I hope he wins the Ballon d’Or. Blatter’s comments have been a real eye-opener for a lot of people".
Of interest in that interview is the suggestion that Pepe is seeking a new contract with Real Madrid.
Meanwhile, off in London, Chelsea coach Jose Mourinho has suggested that coaching Cristiano Ronaldo was "the highlight" of his career. The manager has never met a more professional player.
And finally, Florentino Perez has suggested that the residences for players at Madrid's academy will be completed at Valdebebas this Christmas, in good news for the youngsters who will be living there.
