- Fàbio Coentrao came back from his ankle sprain and started Portugal's match against Zlatan Ibrahimovic and company. Pepe and Cristiano Ronaldo played the whole match as well and they managed to defeat a Sweden side that will have to overcome a 1-0 deficit after Cristiano Ronaldo's goal in the 82nd minute. The truth is Cristiano didn't play well at all, but he did score and gave Portugal the advantage. On the other hand, Pepe and Coentrao performed quite brilliantly and stopped Ibrahimovic. Pepe has been Real Madrid's best center back so far and he kept that streak going against Sweden. The second leg will be played on Tuesday.
- Didier Deschamps' France will have to come back from a devastating 2-0 loss against Ukraine. Varane didn't play -Deschamps maybe missed him after Koscielny's mistake on Ukraine's second goal- and Benzema only saw 20 minutes of action. Although Karim had shaken off his rust from the start of the season, Deschamps still started Olivier Giroud. Benzema and Varane will have some spare time this summer if they don't overcome the 2-0 score next Tuesday.
- Luka Modric drew 0-0 at Iceland. He played alongside Sevilla midfielder Ivan Rakitic and finished the game without a single problem. Croatia could've had an easier game if Bayern striker Mario Mandzukic had performed well. They're still in the mix for the 2014 World Cup though. They just have to beat Iceland in Croatia.
