Gil Manzano, 30 years old, is the youngest referee in the Spanish Liga BBVA. According to COPE, he will be the man in charge of El Clásico between Real Madrid and FC Barcelona on October 25th. Manzano will be younger than some players on the pitch, and it will certainly be interesting to see how he officiates this high voltage match between the two clubs that should -- at least should -- fight for the Liga BBVA title.
Manzano likes to show a lot of yellow cards. In fact, he's shown 239 over 44 Primera División games. That's probably not good news for Real Madrid's defensive line, as Sergio Ramos and Pepe tend to get booked in such crucial matches. This season he has only officiated a Real Madrid match once, it was Real's 2-0 win against Córdoba in the opening game of the season.
Without a doubt, this one will be the biggest match he's ever refereed.
