The Spanish Football Federation confirmed Cristiano Ronaldo's three-match ban after the red card he saw against Athletic Bilbao.
Real Madrid appealed the decision but referee Ayza Gámez changed his match report.
Cristiano Ronaldo will be available for this Wednesday's derby against Atlético Madrid, but he will have to sit out the Liga BBVA games against Villarreal, Getafe and Elche. That will likely mean that Jesé or Isco will get his minutes, considering that Gareth Bale has already recovered from his injury.
Whether Ronaldo's red card was fair or not, it doesn't happen very often that the referee is allowed to change his match report.
Real Madrid are facing a very important stage of the season and to miss Cristiano Ronaldo for three Liga BBVA matches is certainly not good news. The team will now need to replace his goal scoring skills in order to keep pace with Atlético Madrid and FC Barcelona.
