Coentrao almost left Real Madrid for Manchester United last summer. The paperwork between the red devils and Real Madrid just could not be completed in time, and 10 months later, Coentrao started the Champions League Final for los blancos. Now, Carlo Ancelotti is happy with him and has convinced Coentrao to stay. And he will. According to Marca, a new five-year deal with Real Madrid is all but done. The left back will now earn 4M€ and his contract will end on 2019.
Coentrao finished the season brilliantly, and even though he has some critics on the Spanish press, he has proven how capable he is. This summer, he will start the 2014 FIFA World Cup for Portugal. And so will Marcelo for Brazil. Both of them will want to start for Real next season, and Carlo Ancelotti will need to figure something out in order to keep Coentrao and Marcelo happy.
Apparently, Marcelo will stay with Real Madrid as well unless Florentino Pérez and the board receive a huge offer for him.
