Di Maria: to stay or go

As the silly season approaches us, or engulfs us into its madness, Madrid must be cautious yet make moves to keep the team fresh and hungry. Perez undoubtably knows that changes are necessary to keep the team ready to battle on multiple fronts.

The topic of this particular post is on the Angel of Argentina.

Do we keep Di Maria of let him go?

Why Madrid should keep him:

1. Arguably one of our best players in big games last season. His dizzying runs against Barcelona come to mind even more than his wonderful move to beat two Athletico players in the Champions League final.

2. Mobility in position. He can play in the midfield, forward line, and even deputize at a left or right back as Mourinho used him at times. He is extremely versatile and fits in Carlo's three man midfield quite well. Now if the rumors of Kroos coming to Madrid are indeed true as MARCA would make us believe then he becomes a solid box-to-box option for Madrid or even a long term replacement for Alonso.

3. Excellent passer of the ball and has the vision to cut open defenses at speed which at times Madrid lacked. Often he provided the runs which sliced open defenses and provided the space for people like Ronaldo, Bale, and Benzema to exploit.

Why Madrid should sell him:

1. At times in his career at Madrid he floated in and out of matches or months at the club which left fans scratching their heads. Extremely disappointing for a player of his caliber.

2. His value is at an all time high after his performances in the Champions League final where millions saw him run at and through defenders and during the World Cup. Rumors are saying that a figure around €50 million has been quoted. A sum that Florentino can certainly use to invest in a fee more talents.

3. "Not being loved" by the crowd at the Bernabeau is a problem for him and be sees it as a real stumbling block. Now he also has not made many fans especially with his "gesture" made which seems to be him grabbing his groin.

My opinion keeping him:

Improve his contract again; which was done just two seasons ago. Make him feel happy and loved at the club so his incredible talent can shine. He is a magician in Carlo's three man midfield and combines well with the front three attacking players.

My opinion on selling him:

His value is high. Can reinvest in the squad and make improvements to a star studded lineup.
