Rafa Benítez was one of the pundits for Real Madrid's match against AS Roma in BT Sports. The Spanish manager was fired by Florentino Pérez and obviously had some words to say about what happened during his tenure in Madrid. Pérez will not be happy about them.
"We were on the right track, but the fans and the President were a bit nervous and decided to change their manager," started Benítez. "My assistant coach Fabio Pecchia said the other day that there's always pressure coming from the President. He is always around talking to players, reporters and staff and sometimes that's not easy for the manager," he added.
"Barcelona have won twice the Liga titles since Florentino Pérez took over because they are consistent. The President has done a good job with the business side of things, but Barcelona are still winning," concluded Benítez.
In the end, Benítez has been the only recent manager complaining about Real Madrid after being fired. Neither Mourinho nor Ancelotti had something bad to say about the President and while Benítez is probably right in his analysis, he should have probably waited until the off-season. One way or another, he labels himself as a madridista but his words will not help the club he grew up in.
