Greetings from the land of sand. Here we introduce a new weekly segment on Managing Madrid where I walk around my international campus and ask random people of different backgrounds and football loyalties questions about the footballing world and Real Madrid.
As Benzema was sitting on the sidelines due to an injury he picked up last week, madridistas were apprehensive as they saw Higuain return to the starting lineup. After Pipita's time out last year, whenever he features for los blancos he has seemed slower, a shadow of the player he used to be.
But that was before last night.
Higuain bagged a hat trick against Espanyol, with good placement and prediction. He certainly has give Mourinho something to think about.
So the question this week is this: Higuain or Benzema?
" Higuain. Because he's a smarter player with more Real Madrid experience."
-Omar, Egypt
"Higuain because he's just a better player."
-James, New Zealand
"Benzema because he's more experienced, skilled and he's a legend. Higuain is weak now."
-Yusuf, Palestine
"Higuain. Benzema sucks. Definitely Higuain."
-Nadeem, Lebanon
"I like Higuain because he's a much more flashy player."
-Mustafa, Egypt
"Higuain because he's a better player in general."
-Phillip, Lebanon
So Pipita seems to get this one. However, keep in mind that it is still much too early to tell, as neither player has been very consistent. We'll just have to wait and see.
Another thing to put to the table before you decide is: do Madrid need a third striker? Mourinho seems to be looking for one, but do you think that Real Madrid should stick with the Argentine and the Frenchman and let a youth teamer (I'm talking about you, Morata) rise up in the ranks?
