Real Madrid boss José Mourinho confirmed this morning that Nuri Sahin, the German-born Turkish phenom who came to Madrid from Borussia Dortmund at the beginning of the summer transfer market, will be active for this Sunday's matchagainst Osasuna in the Bernabéu. Whether he will actually make his Real Madrid debut is still in doubt, but at the very least he will join the team for his first official match.
"He has been called to play," Mourinho said, "and if he has been called, then he can play. This is the most important step so far, as the season progresses we'll see if he can play with Xabi Alonso or not."
Sahin was widely considered the best bargain transfer of the entire window--he came to Madrid for a measly €10 million--but he has yet to play for los blancos after suffering an unlucky injury during preseason. All signs point to Sahin making his debut for Madrid within the next couple of matches, especially considering los vikingos' injury problems in the midfield (Kaká is out, while various other players are nursing bumps).
Here's hoping we'll see an eager, energetic Nuri Sahin out on the pitch on Sunday looking to prove why everyone was so excited about his arrival.
