Sergio "el Kun" Agüero will don the familiar color of light blue next season--and not just for Argentina. He announced today, via his personal twitter account (see below) that he is "now a player for City. I'm happy to be here in this club and in this city. Thank you to all for the welcome and for the reception" (my translation). His announcement ends weeks of increasingly annoying speculation and rumor, which will no doubt anger many of the tabloids in England and Spain; I for one am happy(-ish) to just have this over with.

Well, that ends that saga. I wish him well: he was really fun to watch on Atleti, and it's sad to see the Liga lose such a prodigious young talent. It's also a bit disappointing that Madrid didn't seem to have any interest in him, because I figured that he would add an exciting dynamic to the squad.

But does this announcement mean that Madrid will sign Neymar? I don't think so. While the two players seemed intrinsically linked at the beginning of the offseason, their futures began to disentangle as Madrid expressed less and less interest in the young Argentine. To me, this move has no bearing on Madrid, other than that the Citizens have suddenly added a very exciting young talent, and could be a threat to los blancos in Europe.

Ya soy jugador del City. Feliz de estar en este club y en esta ciudad. Gracias a todos por la bienvenida y el recibimiento !!!less than a minute ago via Twitter for BlackBerry® Favorite Retweet Reply
