Current Arsenal (backup) forward, baby-faced Russian Andrei Arshavin (who's actually 30 despite his ridiculously young looking face), released a statement today in the Russian newspaper Sport Express, saying that he "wouldn't play for Real Madrid, not even for all the money in the world."
In a move that surprised no one, he went on to say, "For me they're totally taboo, because I've been a fan of Barcelona for a very long time."
This announcement came completely out of the blue, as there hasn't been a single rumor linking the Russian heart-throb to los blancos in any tabloid or newspaper in any country whatsoever. In fact, I don't even think the Internet suggested this one, and we all know how gossipy that Internet is.
Well, we've got some news for Mr. Arshavin over here at Managing Madrid: we don't want you anyways--you're washed up, over-the-hill and way over-rated. Sorry to break your heart there, but there's a reason that you haven't been linked to Real Madrid.
