Very bad news for Real Madrid in this FIFA break. Brazil's football federation (CBF) confirmed on his website that Marcelo broke his right metatarsal in Sunday's training session and will miss approximately three months. That's FIFA Virus at its best.

Remember that Fábio Coentrao had to leave Portugal's game against Russia. So Real Madrid might have to play with Academy player Jorge Casado its next match against Celta Vigo. Luckily enough for los blancos, Coentrao's injury isn't big, so he will be able to feature soon enough.

As Brazil's doctor Pedro Lasmar confirmed, Marcelo's expected return could come in 2013. He could as well have surgery to have a more successful recovery, but his date of return would not be affected very much.

Marcelo will now travel back to Madrid this Monday to have his ankle checked up by Real Madrid's medical services. Expect club's official information on his status then.
