Road To Promotion: Castilla Still Leads Table After 6-0 Win

Joselu and Denis Cherysev celebrating one of Castilla's goals against Coruxo

Real Madrid's first team is still enjoying the seven-point margin against FC Barcelona in the la Liga's table, and Real Madrid Castilla is five points ahead of Lugo and Rayo Vallecano in Segunda Division B Group 1 table.

After a 2-2 draw against Conquense and a 1-0 defeat versus Albacete, Alberto Toril's team managed to get a great 6-0 win in the Alfredo Di Stefano Stadium at Valdebebas against Coruxo. Joselu scored a hat-trick while Denis got two and right back Dani Carvajal added one to his account.

Real Madrid Castilla is still hoping for a promotion to Segunda Division by leading their Segunda Division B group. If they finally win the group, Castilla will have two less games to play to prove themselves. Real Madrid's Board of Directors have said many times that this would be a very important matter for Castilla's players because the Segunda Division would give them the competition that they could use to win a spot on Real Madrid's first team.

Joselu is finally showing that he is Castilla's best striker. Álvaro Morata drew a lot of attention last year, but he is still too young and has not lived up to his potential. Joselu is a pure striker that can be useful in the aerial game. The first team lacks this kind of player and Joselu could be chosen by Jose Mourinho (or the whoever the coach is) to play this role in the next few years.

Joselu scored the first goal for Castilla in the 26th minute after a great pass from Jesé Rodríguez. The young winger is certainly Castilla's more promising player. This is his first year with Castilla; before, he played in the under-18 team.

The first half ended with a great display by Real Madrid Castilla and with a short 1-0 lead. The team wanted to finish the game and Carvajal crossed the ball to Denis shortly after the game was resumed to score Castilla's second goal. Carvajal is Castilla's best defender. He is a very complete right back that could really fill in the reserve right back role for Real Madrid's first team.

The game was clearly finished, as Coruxo was not going to get passed Castilla's goal, but Toril's team wanted to increase the margin. Joselu scored the next two goals while Denis and Carvajal put 6-0 onto the scoreboard.

Real Madrid Castilla will play next Sunday against Getafe B. This team is currently ranked seventh in the group. They are also a strong team in their stadium, so it will be really difficult for Castilla to get the win. But if they are able to do that, their promotion will be closer than ever.
