We've been out-of-date these past few weeks, but we're planning to give you full coverage of Real Madrid's players at the Eurocup, don't tune off!
The Academy players have done it. Real Madrid Castilla beat Cádiz at the Alfredo di Stéfano Stadium 5-1 to reach the final target: the promotion to the Second Division. The team dedicated the win to the memory of Florentino Pérez's wife, who passed away this week.
This promotion is very important for the players, and they accomplished it in a very good way by beating Cádiz, who were champions of their own group by a global 8-2 margin in the leg. Jesé Rodríguez, Joselu and Morata were the stellar players of this promotion phase and will surely have a decent run in the Second Division to improve their abilities and -who knows- maybe get a chance with the first team whenever they're fully ready.
Alberto Toril took over the team last season when they were heading to the Third Division of Spanish football. He didn't only maintain the category but qualified the team to the Promotion Phase. Unfortunately, Castilla lost against Alcoyano and had to wait another year. Toril has built a system that fits both Joselu and Morata, and with Jese's appearance (he was not in Real Madrid C last year), the Academy team has seen an obvious improvement.
The team's goal is now uncertain. Will the players have enough to maintain themselves in the Second Division? Will Real Madrid sign any good players to reach that goal? The Second Division is a much tougher competition, and the young players should take some time before they get used to it, but Toril might be able to pull out another miracle.
