Marca and the Valencian daily SuperDeporte reported that Real Madrid Midfielder Fernando Gago could join Valencia very soon. The Argentinian player spent last season playing for AS Roma, but the Italian club didn't execute the 7M€ clause that would have allowed him to stay in the Serie A.

José Mourinho is clearly not counting on him, so the transfer fee could be ridiculous. Valencia has been searching for a defensive midfielder since Turkish Mehmet Topal was sold to Fenerbahçe weeks ago. The club only has 34-year-old David Albelda to contain opposing teams' offensive game, which is why they are interested in Villarreal's Bruno Soriano as well.

Gago would be Real Madrid's second player to leave the club this summer, and the team is hoping to see Ricardo Carvalho go as well. Since the preseason began, the Portuguese defender has not been in Valdebebas.
