Real Madrid has officially announced the renewal of Arbeloa's contract, which will last until 2016. The Spanish defender had the best season of his career this past year, being a key starter for the club and for the Spanish National Team as well. He managed to win La Liga and the UEFA Euro 2012.

The team should be proud of this player, who made his way back to the club after spending some years out in Deportivo La Coruña and in Rafa Benitez's Liverpool, even winning the Champions League. I don't know if he is especially talented, but his hard work, dedication, and passion for the club have turned him into a key player in Mourinho's plan. Now, he will likely finish his career in Real Madrid, something that should make madridistas around the world really happy. Not many players represent the club as well as he does.

Well deserved, Álvaro.
