Bernabéu Bites, 12.15.13: Sad Night at El Sadar

The hoodoo effect of El Sadar Stadium in Pamplona continued last night for Real Madrid. Rob Train recapped the 2-2 draw that now places Real Madrid five points off Barcelona's pace atop La Liga. I agree that Los Blancos will be happy to have the Pamplona purgatory behind them. Pick it up and move on.

Moving on will be easier said than done, of course. You'd hope there will be no psychological hangover going forward, but there will certainly be a very tangible difficulty lingering from Saturday's events. Madrid travels to the Mestalla a week from now and, according to Marca, will have to rely on Nacho and Arbeloa in the center of defence. There have been rumblings of an appeal of Ramos's red card, however.

Cristiano Ronaldo completed his 150th game with Real Madrid last night. Today, he travels back home to Madeira to open up a museum devoted to his exploits. Emilio Butragueño will attend on behalf of the club.
