Bernabéu Bites, 07.16.2013: Training with Carlo and Zizou

In today's edition of Bernabéu Bites, we take a look at the chatter surrounding Real Madrid's last two training sessions under new manager Carlo Ancelotti.

Gonzalo Arroyo Moreno
  • Both As and Marca reported that Real Madrid's new midfielder Asier Illaramendi trained indoors today, though the reason behind Illara's gym session remains unknown. As noted that the squad enjoyed a practice session characterized by an abundance of drills with the ball, while Marca deduced most brilliantly that Zidane appears to be more contemplative and reserved than Carlo. Thank you Capitán Obvio.
  • Former canterano Nacho Fernández addressed the media today and graciously offered words of encouragement to members of the cantera while thanking Jose Mourinho for promoting him to the first team. With regards to his new coaching staff, Nacho described both Ancelotti and Zizou as approachable and stated that Ancelotti wants a humble and professional team built on hard work.
  • In what's fast becoming one of the most belabored plot lines in recent Real Madrid history (thanks in large part to this fan), both As and Marca are running with the story that Ancelotti and Zidane have wasted no time in launching "Operation Recover Kaká." Since Ancelotti and Zizou each put their arms around the Brazilian on separate occasions and included the midfielder in the same training group as Cristiano Ronaldo, the press deduced that the coaching duo is trying to infuse the former Galáctico with some self-confidence.
  • A big thank you to our community member ibro95 for sharing the following 23-minute video of Real Madrid's first training session yesterday. The video features footage of the players conducting passing drills as the goalkeepers warm up under the supervision of 64-year-old William Vecchi.
