Real Madrid's First Training in Los Angeles

Los Blancos touched down in Los Angeles yesterday, as they continue preparations for the upcoming 2013/2014 campaign. Ancelotti's men have returned to the University of California Los Angeles for a fourth consecutive summer, and they were welcomed with open arms by the hoards of supporters awaiting their first glimpse of Sergio Ramos' new blonde hair and crowd-favorite Cristiano Ronaldo.

Real Madrid returned to training on Monday in Los Angeles. After their impressive preseason performance against PSG, Los Blancos went back to work with nearly the whole squad in attendance. Asier Illarramendi was the only absentee, as the Basque midfielder has still been struggling with a slight knock.

Ancelotti's men started training promptly at 5:00pm PST, with another Basque pass-master, Xabi Alonso, participating in some light jogging before the rest of the squad arrived. The entire squad stretched and warmed-up as a unit, as Los Blancos prepare for the upcoming match against the Los Angeles Galaxy on Thursday. French starlet Raphael Varane worked out on the side during the initial running warmup.

Los Blancos wrapped up the stretching and jogging within roughly 10 minutes of training, moving into a passing exercise. Varane rejoined the squad for this portion of the training, which indicates that the young central defender is progressing well in his recovery from knee surgery.

Real Madrid will be returning to practice tomorrow morning, but there has been no update as to Illarra's fitness. Stay tuned to Managing Madrid for more breaking news and analysis LIVE from Los Angeles.
