Eternal Sunshine of the Bale-Less Club, Bernabéu Bites, 08.26.2013

Guess what? It's Monday, August 26th and Real Madrid have not announced the capture of Gareth Bale yet.

  • Florentino Pérez has yet to convince Daniel Levy of letting Gareth Bale go and play for Real Madrid. And according to the BBC and Sky Sports, the Spurs have other offers on the table. If those reports are true, the end of this saga could still be far from over. Only a week far, though, as the transfer deadline is next Monday.
  • On the other hand, the Daily Mail and Goal.com believe that an agreement between both clubs has been reached.  If you choose to believe these two sites, the Bale signing would be announced in the next 48 hours.
  • Guess what? Yes! Another story on Bale! La Sexta Jugones reported this afternoon that Real Madrid and the Spurs have not reached an agreement neither.
  • In case you had forgotten with all this turmoil, Real Madrid play this night (21:00 CET) their second game of the Liga BBVA season. Khedira will have to miss the game and Casemiro might get a chance to start alongisde Luka Modric and Isco.
  • Opinion time. Florentino Pérez needs to draw an end to this saga and do it quickly. Gareth Bale hasn't had a preseason and he will need some time to get in shape. The earlier he joins the club, the better. And if Pérez cannot reach an agreement with Levy soon, let Bale stay with the Spurs and Levy pay the bill of his signings.
