- Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti told the press he was pleased with the team's hard-earned victory. He applauded the effort demonstrated by midfielders Isco, Luka Modric and Ángel di María and assured the fanbase that the team is still in its development stages. As the players work to adopt a new footballing system, the most important thing, said Ancelotti, is to continue racking up points.
- Álvaro Arbeloa echoed Carlo Ancelotti's words, saying, "We are only in the second matchday. We have to be patient. Our highest level takes its time, it hasn't been seen in the first or second game, but we haven't suffered too much. We are trying to play as well as possible, but it takes its time, because there are a lot of new people. We should be happy because the team is progressing."
- Mesut Özil was subbed off midway through the second half and appeared to head straight into the stadium tunnel. This aroused speculation amongst the fanbase that Mesut is unhappy under Ancelotti and may consider a transfer. Mesut's tweet is open to interpretation, but I personally see it as him trying to calm the storm and focus on what's important:
- ESPN blogger Rob Train covered the game, describing it as a "game of two halves." Train took issue with Ancelotti's defensive substitutions and believed a humble Granada side should not have provoked the additions of Nacho and Casemiro into the match.
