One of the most fascinating and frustrating transfer sagas in recent memory came to a close today as Real Madrid announced the signing of Welsh international Gareth Bale:
Bale joins Madrid on a six-year deal and will be presented to the Santiago Bernabéu tomorrow at 1:00 pm local time. After the presentation, the Welshman will attend what will certainly be a frenzied press conference to shed light on a transfer negotiation that lasted all but one day over the course of the summer transfer window.
The winger/second-striker joins Real Madrid after a breakout season in which he scored 26 goals over 44 games. His place in Ancelotti's set-up has been the topic of discussion on this and various other football blogs and it'll be interesting to see where the Real Madrid manager deploys him. Regardless of position though, it's safe to say Real Madrid have acquired one of the most talented and explosive young talents in world football.
Welcome to Real Madrid, Gareth!
