Mesut Özil Close to Arsenal

Transfer deadline anyone?

Carlos Alvarez

Gareth Bale has signed for Real Madrid. Özil has been subbed off in Real's first two games and missed this Sunday's match against Athletic. The German player spoke to the press some days ago and said he wants to stay with Real Madrid. Still, these rumours might make sense.

According to Al JazeeraCadena SER and Onda Cero, Mesut Özil is close to sign a deal with Arsenal FC. Arsène Wenger said that the London-based club could surprise everyone this Monday, and this would certainly be a possibility. Even Cadena COPE joined the party and stated that Arsenal would pay 45M€ + some more millions depending on the team's achievements.

It seems that Özil could indeed go to Arsenal. Real Madrid paid close to 15M€ to Werder Bremen three years ago. Now, the German player finds himself with a lot of competition in Real Madrid's roster after los blancos signed Isco and Gareth Bale and Di María's great start of the season.
