Manchester United Offered More Than 40M€ for Khedira

According to Cadena COPE, Real Madrid refused to sell because of Carlo Ancelotti's desire to keep the player.

Manchester United landed an offer for Real Madrid's midfielder Sami Khediraaccording to Cadena COPE. The Red Devils would be willing to pay around 40M€ to get the German player, but Carlo Ancelotti refused to negotiate as Khedira is a big part of his plan, according to that report.

Paco González usually has good sources, but this rumour seems a bit odd. If Ancelotti has declined that offer, that means that Real Madrid is a reasonable club in which the coach decides what to do with the roster. Florentino Pérez would likely prefer to sell Khedira than Özil, but it seems that Ancelotti prefers to keep Sami.

Even with Casemiro's good preseason and Illarramendi's signing, Khedira will likely play an important part in this 2013-2014 Real Madrid season.
