- Marcelo, Cristiano Ronaldo and Isco have all been bitten by the FIFA injury bug. Marcelo's sidelining will likely last 2-3 weeks, but thankfully Ronaldo and Isco's slight injuries should be no problem going forward. Ronaldo has briefly returned to Madrid in the middle of the international break to receive treatment on a nagging thigh. That previous link also provides a brief roundup of how all Madrid players have performed while away on international duty.
- Diario As speculates that Gareth Bale may get his first minutes of actual football under his belt since signing for Real Madrid this Tuesday. Wales hosts Serbia in Cardiff. The article also notes that Bale has received a mini-preseason training plan from Real Madrid's wizard-like trainer, Giovanni Mauri.
- Marca says that Asier Illarramendi is fully mended. It also speculates that Asier could be called into the side for Saturday's bout with Villareal.
- The same article above that deals with Illarramendi also provides an update on our heroic red-beard, Xabi Alonso. The player is set to undergo a review of his August surgery for a sports hernia that plagued him towards the end of last season. He is also recovering from a fractured fifth metatarsal in his right foot. The prognosis from Marca seems to be that he should be ready in about two more months.
