Ancelotti Post-Match Press Conference: Real Madrid vs Espanyol

Real Madrid's coach addressed the media following Real Madrid's 1-0 victory in the first leg of the Copa del Rey quarterfinals.

Gonzalo Arroyo Moreno

Carlo Ancelotti conceded a routine post-match press conference and hit on the following points:

On Iker's record of consecutive minutes without conceding a goal:

"We have to congratulate him because he's playing well. He deserves this record. He is really helping the team and made a great save. He's done a good job in all the matches. Now, both keepers are playing practically the same number of games. Casillas is just as much a starter as Diego López."

On Bale's performance:

"He had a good match. Perhaps he wasn't as refined but he worked hard offensively and defensively. In terms of his position, he doesn't have any problems playing on the right. He's done it many times."

On Real Madrid's performance:

"We only suffered toward the end. The team played with quality, speed and intensity. We recovered the ball and had no problems in the back and left with a clean sheet."

On the return leg in Madrid:

"It's the quarterfinals of the Copa del Rey and we will field the best team. The tie remains wide open."
