In the first press conference after the Christmas break, our coach cleared all doubts regarding the injured players in our roster. According to him, Coentrao and Varane are fully recovered, and only need now a two-week preseason to get ready to play. Bale's situation is better: he is fine and has taken part in the last training sessions, so he might play tomorrow. However, as he confirmed, it might be time for Jesé to be a starter, but he wants him to feel no pressure: "We have Cristiano, Benzema or Bale, and I have never spoken about starters, so I will not do this with Jesé either. He is a great player and he is being important for the team, and I think this is enough. He is young and he is progressing. He might play tomorrow".
Ancelotti knows the importance of the match against Celta: "We were doing pretty well in the last two months before Christmas, although the games against Osasuna and Valencia were not that good. We need to perform at that level again, and we hope to win and show the same attitude and concentration against Celta". Furthermore, the big amount of matches in January is to be taken into account: "We will need to rotate our players in order to keep them fit and focused, because it is hard to play a game every three days for a whole month".
The team's deficiencies were also discussed. Our coach recognized that our defense is not being as good as it should be in the last few games, and this is something that needs to be fixed. However, when asked about the difficulties in static attack, he refused to consider that a problem: "Obviously, it is harder to attack when you don't have space to run, but this is common to every team, not only us. I believe that Cristiano, Benzema, Isco or Modric can make the difference in these situations".
Finally, our coach was asked about Zidane's role in the coaching staff. As he confirmed, Zizou pays special attention to our strikers, and gives them advice about their shooting and movements along the field. This work has been specially positive on Jesé, who seems to have learned a lot from his French idol lately.
