Real Madrid working to sign Lucas Silva this winter

According to Marca, Real Madrid are willing so sign Cruzeiro midfielder Lucas Silva this very same winter. Modric's injury and Khedira's potential departure would be the keys behind this move. Marca's report says that Cruizeiro want to get €15 million for Silva's transfer, but Real Madrid are offering just €12 million. The numbers are close, so it seems that this deal will not fall apart because of the money involved.

While Khedira is certainly a valuable player, it's true that Real Madrid should get things straight with him. There's no point in giving him minutes if he's going to leave the club for free next summer. If that's the case, Ancelotti only has Isco, Kroos and Illarramendi for two spots in the midfield -- until Modric recovers --, so it would make sense to sign another midfielder.

Silva appears to be a promising player, but Real Madrid will also need to think about how his game will translate to the European style of football.
