"Cristiano Ronaldo is the greatest athlete ever"

Ronaldo's agent Jorge Mendes was excited about the Golden Boot.

Cristiano Ronaldo picked up his third career Golden Boot yesterday. The Portuguese star is having a helluva season so far, and he will likely win the 2014 FIFA Ballon D'Or a couple of months from now. Those accolades are enough for Jorge Mendes -- Ronaldo's agent -- to claim that CR7 is the "greatest athlete ever".

While that statement is a bit over the top, Cristiano Ronaldo's achievements are often overlooked, with football fans around the world saying that his numbers are due to "the number of penalties he scores" or "how often he shoots". And it seems that Ronaldo gets that same kind of treatment from the VIPs in football such as Sepp Blatter and Michel Platini. The latter, for instance, claimed that a German player should win the Ballon D'Or.

Ronaldo doesn't want to dig into that controversy.

Things are going well for me right now, I'm scoring some goals, playing well [laughs], so I don't want to speak about that just two months ahead of the Ballon D'Or ceremony.

That's actually a reasonable statement from Ronaldo, who will let his game speak for himself and make his case to win his third Ballon D'Or. Meanwhile, Sami Khedira should get ready to raise the prestigious award -- at least that's what Platini seems to want -- , as he's the only German player who won the World Cup and the Champions League...
