Report: Chelsea target close to signing an extension with Real Madrid

According to several reports from Germany, Sami Khedira would now be more than willing to sign a contract extension with Real Madrid. His good friendship with Toni Kroos and Carlo Ancelotti's convincing talks would have been the main reason behind Khedira's new determination, although ultimately it will all come down to the negotiations between Real Madrid's board and the German midfielder.

Khedira has barely featured this season, mainly because of minor injuries but also due to an apparent reluctance by Ancelotti to give him minutes since the player was thought to be on his way out of the club. If fit and committed, Khedira can be a crucial midfielder in this Real Madrid squad thanks to his physical presence, and it should be noted that Ancelotti considered him an undisputed starter before the ACL injury he suffered last season.

Khedira wanted to get a significant raise on his new contract, something that Real Madrid were not going to accept and even considered somewhat offensive after how severe Khedira's injury was. Now, if the German midfielder's new demands meet Real's requirements, a new deal could be in store.
