Previewing the game
Previewing the game
Real Madrid projected XI: Navas, Arbeloa, Varane, Nacho, Coentrao, Illarramendi, Kroos, Isco, Bale, Ronaldo, Chicharito.
With Ancelotti's men already having the first place in the group clinched, this could be a good opportunity to see some rotations. Cristiano Ronaldo is chasing a record in the Champions League, so he will likely start the game. Bale could also see some action in order to recover his best form, while Isco comes back from Liga BBVA suspension taking James' spot. Real Madrid's midfield is thin after James Rodríguez's injury, so Ancelotti doesn't have many options other than starting Illarramendi and Kroos deep. While the German could perfectly sit this one out, only Álvaro Medrán would be able to step in and fill his shoes, as Los Blancos are still waiting for Khedira to recover from the concussion he suffered against Cornellà.
Ramos and Pepe could also get some rest in this game, something that would give Varane and Nacho the minutes they deserve. Furthermore, Ancelotti could also rotate his full backs and start both Arbeloa and Coentrao considering how hard Carvajal and Marcelo work every game -- and how important they are to Madrid's system--.
Finally, Keylor Navas was the one goalkeeper talking to the press during Monday's press conference, so the Costa Rican will get another start in the Champions League.
