It wasn't pretty. It was rough indeed. But Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice from the penalty spot and ended the tie, giving Real Madrid a ticket to the Copa del Rey Final.
Iker Casillas: A- Only had one save for these 90 minutes. It was a good save though. Casillas has managed to keep a clean sheet for the whole Copa del Rey and the fans can only hope that he keeps that streak going.
Dani Carvajal: B+ Some good crosses and a lot of defensive intensity by the academy defender. Carvajal has certainly added depth to this roster. Ancelotti will have to make a very important decision about the starting right back coming soon.
Raphäel Varane: A- Varane made his return to the starting lineup and looked sharp. It's true that he did not have work to do, but his passes were accurate and he also showed how quick he is. It's good for Real Madrid to have him back.
Sergio Ramos: B+ Ramos didn't get booked. That's enough. But he also stopped Atlético's attackers when needed.
Álvaro Arbeloa: B- Arbeloa was perfect on defense but he could've scored Real's third goal when he found the ball inside Atlético's box. He reacted quite slowly to that and he couldn't even try.
Xabi Alonso: B+ Alonso played well. He had something going with Raúl García who tried to get Alonso on his nerves. But he kept his composure and managed to end the game without a yellow card. He also schooled Atleti's Cebolla Rodríguez after the game.
Asier Illarramendi: A- Brilliant match by Illarra. His accuracy was much better than against Villarreal, where he struggled. His defensive presence should also be noted.
Luka Modric: B- Modric has arguably been one of Real's best men of the season. But today, he played behind the striker and wasn't that comfortable. He was replaced by Casemiro.
Gareth Bale: B+ He was the one player fouled inside the box on Real's second penalty kick. Other than that, the Welsh player was quite. He did try hard though. His commitment is there.
Cristiano Ronaldo: A- Scored twice. Was hit by a lighter. Kept his composure against some Atlético players that tried to get him sent off. Got booked unfairly. And he also tried very hard to get a hat trick before being replaced by Jesé to avoid problems. Legend.
Isco Alarcón: A Real Madrid's Man of the Match. Not many people believed he could play as a false nine, but today Isco delivered and played brilliantly.
Nacho Fernández: B+ Nacho never shines, but he did play well today. Again, it was easy to be one of Real's defenders against this shorthanded Atlético de Madrid, but Nacho's good second half should be appreciated.
Casemiro: B There isn't much to tell about Casemiro. He replaced Modric and was forced to play irrelevant minutes. Hopefully he will still improve as a player.
Jesé Rodríguez: B The same goes for Big Flow. After being one of Real Madrid's sensations, he wasn't on the Starting XI. Expect him to start against Getafe next Sunday.
