Karim Benzema played well. We all know he's not a pure goalscorer. He missed some easy scoring opportunities, but he also performed some magic. Watch.
I've noticed that Benzema has some haters around. In my opinion, there's no striker in the world of football who understands football so well. He's the perfect striker to play around Bale and Ronaldo, and this is probably the best season of his career. Remember the game against Schalke. He might not be scoring as many goals, but he's certainly helping Bale and Ronaldo.
If you're still questioning his ability to be Real Madrid's first option as a striker, then you probably need to re-watch some 2013-2014 games. But I do believe that the team could be better with a backup striker who provides another kind of attacking style. Morata is playing well lately and it seems that he could fill that role for the future.
