The press at Da Luz are reporting that Sami Khedira could indeed start the 2014 Champions League Final with Asier Illarramendi on the bench. Ancelotti has said over the last few months that Illarra would be Alonso's most natural replacement, but it seems that Khedira is finally getting that spot.
That could mean that Ancelotti's team is ready to play with a 4-4-2 system that would have Di María on the left wing and Bale on the right one. The Welsh attacker will have to work a lot against Filipe Luis, Atleti's left back who completely took over the match during Atlético's 1-3 win at the Stamford Bridge. If Bale doesn't help Carvajal, Filipe Luis will be a dangerous threat.
Starting lineups are still to be confirmed, but if Khedira does start, Real Madrid's formation will change a lot, since Modric will be the only pure play maker in the midfield and Khedira tends to rush forward.
