Real Madrid Vs Valencia, Liga BBVA 2013-2014: Player Ratings

Poor game from many players. Shame that it only ended in a draw for RM.

Denis Doyle

Diego Lopez: B. Had an amazing save in the 16th minute and a second right before the goal was conceded. Could've rushed out for the ball on the goal but Varane did him no favors. Another huge save off of a free kick at the start of the second half but could do nothing to prevent the second Valencia goal.

Daniel Carvajal: B. Good attacking play but left his man open to head on goal in the 16th minute. He tried his best in attack and although he wasn't poor, he unfortunately couldn't spark a goal. The little warrior battled like crazy after the passing of his grandfather.

Sergio Ramos: A-. Sergio was solid defensively, nothing spectacular and then BOOM! Goal!

Raphael Varane: B-. Rafa stood there and did nothing on the first goal, but otherwise he wasn't too bad.

Marcelo: D+. Marcelo was aggressive early, crossing often, and started well. However, his defense wasn't the best and neither were the crosses. His game progressively got worse as the minutes ticked by.

Xabi Alonso: B. His passing and defense were solid today, though unspectacular.

Asier Illarramendi: C-. Had a couple of poor turnovers but passing remained solid. Taken out at half time because he just didn't look as robust as he needed to be. Has to improve and quickly.

Isco: B. Good passing and battling for ball, but he needs to create more for others. Had a solid game for the most part.

Gareth Bale: B. Fantastic runs and movement early. Created chances for teammates and his passing was spot on. However, he couldn't find the magic touch to put the ball in the back of the net.

Cristiano Ronaldo: B. Had an attempt on goal within three minutes and the attempts kept coming. The opposing keeper did well against him but he was guilty of forcing some unnecessary and speculative shots. Beautiful header to assist Ramos on his goal and then scored a highlight reel goal of his own in stoppage time to salvage a point.

Karim Benzema: C+. Passing remained good as he looked to set up teammates but his shot  wasn't threatening at all and he didn't assert himself on the game.

Angel Di Maria: B+. Brought the instant energy off the bench which was sorely lacking and provided the free kick which led to the Real Madrid goal, as well as the assist to Ronaldo in stoppage time.

Casemiro: B. A curious substitution as he came on for Isco. Didn't have much of a tangible impact.

Alvaro Morata: B-. Didn't do much in his limited minutes and had a golden chance to win it in the last seconds but his shot went just wide.

Diego Alves: A. Give props to him, he had some monumental saves and won Valencia the point with his gloves.
