As: "Benzema Wants a Raise".

The French striker, who ends his contract in June 2015, wants to raise his salary to the double, according to the Spanish newspaper "Diario As".

In the middle of this year's storm of transfer rumours, it seems that we have forgotten about our own players. While Real Madrid's interest in Luis Suárez is reported by many, we should remember that we have one of the best strikers in the world with us. Karim Benzema has done a great job this season and his contract finishes in June 2015, so it would be natural to expect that he will want a salary raise if the contract extension is agreed.

As a matter of fact, this is precisely what Diario As claims today. They state Benzema's agent has expressed their interest on increasing his salary from 4.5 million euros to 9 million euros (plus taxes, obviously), numbers that would make him the highest paid player in our roster if we exclude Cristiano Ronaldo. In principle, Real Madrid is willing to reach an agreement, but they consider that 9 million euros is just too much.

According to As, again, we should not expect an easy negotiation. Paris Saint-Germain seem to be interested on getting Karim this summer so it is likely that they will offer him a huge amount of money to try to convince him. Besides, if it is true that los blancos are after Marco Verratti, it would be natural for them to offer him as a part of the payment.
