Real Madrid interested in Benfica's goalkeeper Jan Oblak

According to A Bola, the Slovenian keeper would be Casillas and López's successor.

Clive Rose

And the rumors have started. A Bola has Jan Oblak on their frontpage, and they report that Real Madrid have already talked with the goalkeeper's agent. Apparently, and according to that same report, los blancos would be facing some serious competition for this signing, and even city rivals Atlético de Madrid would be willing to get the Slovenian keeper.

Oblak is still 21 years old, so it might be a bit soon for him to be Real's starter. But considering that Florentino Pérez apparently doesn't want Casillas to leave, Oblak could spend some years learning and living the pressure and expectations for that position.

Oblak already is a capable goalkeeper, but Real would need to sign another goalie in the short term. The Slovenian player has been rotating with Arthur in Benfica's goal, so it's not easy to foresee him starting for Real at the moment.

But at least, it seems that Real Madrid are willing to sign a goalkeeper.
