Real Madrid inch closer to James Rodríguez deal

Colombian striker James Rodríguez is Real Madrid's priority for this transfer window, and los blancos are very close to sign him away from AS Monaco.

Much has been said about James Rodríguez since he proved his potential during the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Spanish daily Marca has been reporting that the Colombian attacker is on Real Madrid's shortlist to strengthen the roster, and the truth is that he will play for Real Madrid next season unless something unusual happens, according to several club sources.

The amount of James' transfer fee has not been confirmed, but an agreement between the clubs should be reached between 60-70M€. Even though Monaco and Real Madrid are still in talks over the transfer of the player, there is no doubt inside the Spanish club that James will wear the white shirt next season. It could take some time before the clubs make it official though, as Real Madrid are aiming to complete the signing of Toni Kroos and the departures of players like Casemiro, Morata, Di María and/or Khedira in order to make the final push for James.
