The 88 year old had a heart attack two days ago and could not make it out of the hospital.

It has happened. La Saeta Rubia, Real Madrid's most iconic and legendary player to ever wear the white shirt, passed away today at the age of 88. The former player suffered a heart attack two days ago and remained in a coma during the last days of his long and glorious life.

Every Real Madrid fan should now be saddened by the passing of the club's greatest player over the last 112 years of history. He once said the following:

I'm Argentinian, but I could not go back to Buenos Aires. I got hooked to Real Madrid for my entire life and I had no strength to go back. One blonde kid started calling me "mister" and even today when I hear Butragueño calling me like that I feel that I must keep guiding him. Nobody can choose their birthplace, but I was able to find the place where I belong. It's in that little square between the streets Castellana, Padre Damián, Concha Espina and Rafael Salgado.

RIP Alfredo Di Stéfano (1926-2014). Thanks for everything and Hala Madrid.
