After extending Xabi Alonso's contract until 2016 last season, and a month after signing the recent World Champion Toni Kroos, Real Madrid continue to secure the stability of their midfield by extending Luka Modric's contract until 2018, as it has been made official by the club a few minutes ago.
This way, the 28-year-old Croatian midfielder is rewarded by his fantastic 2013-14 season, in which he led Real Madrid's midfield trio alongside Xabi Alonso and Ángel Di María, just like Karim Benzema was a week ago.
However, Real Madrid still have work to do in the next eleven days, when the transfer window will shut. There have been a lot of rumors regarding Di María and Khedira, who are likely to leave the team. In principle, no further signings are expected, as Ancelotti has confirmed several times in different press conferences, but, as Florentino Pérez always remarks, anything can happen until August 31st.
