Sergio Ramos could play the Derby as a right back

Atlético de Madrid are one of the most dangerous aerial threats in Europe. And according to As, Carlo Ancelotti could start Sergio Ramos in the right back position to improve Real Madrid's capabilities in that front. Dani Carvajal will finally miss the Madrid derby, and while Arbeloa or even Nacho could replace Carvajal, it might be a good idea to start a good aerial defender against Atlético.

Ancelotti has only played Sergio Ramos there once. That happened during last season's away game in Turin against Juventus. This Saturday, Ancelotti would give Varane some relevant minutes in the center of the defensive line if Ramos finally takes Carvajal's spot.

It's not a good idea to change many things right before a crucial Madrid derby against Atlético, but Carvajal's injury forces Carlo Ancelotti to make a difficult decision. Arbeloa hasn't been great for quite a long time, Nacho is still too young and inexperienced to face an Atlético side which will go very hard after every ball. Therefore, it makes sense to start Sergio Ramos in the right back position in order to have a bigger chance to stop Atlético's power when the ball is in the air.
