Real Madrid announce Varane's contract extension

The French defender signed a new six-year deal.

Raphäel Varane is not getting a lot of minutes as of late, but Real Madrid have recently announced the contract extension of the French defender on the club's official website. Here's the announcement.

Real Madrid announce the extension of Raphäel Varane's contract until June 30th 2020.

Varane signed for Real Madrid three years ago for 10M€ in what was a great bargain for los blancos. He came with almost no experience in the elite, but he's now a top class defender waiting for his chance to be an undisputed starter for the club. His main problem is Pepe's level. The Portuguese defender is performing so well that it's very hard to keep him on the bench, while neither Pepe nor Varane have played well on Ramos' role when given the chance -that is, in the left center side of the defense-. Still, Varane is young and will surely be one of the club's best assets in the near future.
