Looks like the FIFA curse has struck early this season. Sami Khedira has apparently picked up a left thigh injury while training with the German national team and had to leave training because of it, according to the German Football Federation. This is yet another unfortunate knock for Khedira as he had to miss over six months last season due to an ACL tear as well as the World Cup final due to a calf injury.
Hopefully this is nothing serious as Real Madrid will certainly need someone of his size to compete against an important league battle with Atletico Madrid on September 13. With the roster being one player smaller than last season and with this midfield being a relatively diminutive one in terms of size, an extended absence could potentially hit the club hard.
Stay tuned for more.
